CB/CBA, HD/T, E, G Series

Using the scotch-yoke mechanism this series, described below, produces torque that closely matches the requirements of most quarter-turn valves.

Unlike other methods, such as a crank arm that produces its lowest torque at the start and the end of each stroke, the scotch-yoke produces its highest torque at the start and the end of each stroke, providing maximum torque precisely where it is required to efficiently operate most quarter-turn valves.

CB/CBA Actuator Series
Bettis' CB-Series pneumatic actuators are compact, lightweight and ideally suited for automating ball, butterfly and non-lubricated plug valves, or any quarter- turn (90 degree) rotating mechanism.

These efficient, low maintenance actuators, with optional controls, provide a reliable method of operating and confirming valve position for a fully automated process.

The CB-Series, available in double-acting and spring-return models, are independently certified to BS 5490: 1977 - IP66 for water ingress protection.

HD/T Series

Bettis HD/T-Series pneumatic and hydraulic actuators are ideally suited for operating ball, butterfly, plug valves, dampers and other 90 degree turn devices. The HD/T-Series actuators provide a practical and reliable method for opening and closing valves by remote control without the need for expensive and unnecessary gearing, hydraulic pumps or other motor driven devices.

The HD-Series operates at pneumatic pressures up to 250 PSIG (17 BAR) or hydraulic pressures up to 3000 PSIG (207 BAR). The T-Series operates at pneumatic pressures up to 200 PSIG (14 BAR). Consult factory for hydraulic applications.

E Series
The Bettis E series actuators are used in the Bettis PressureGuard and Gas/Hydraulic Control System, and are proven performers is high and extreme low temperature operation. Custom design and manufacturing is available to meet unique requirements.

Bettis' E-Series pneumatic or hydraulic actuators are compact, lightweight and ideally suited for automating ball, butterfly and non-lubricated plug
valves, or any quarter- turn (90 degree) rotating mechanism. The E Series is available in single or two cylinders for double acting or single cylinder / Spring Return configurations.

Pneumatic pressures from 60-140 PSIG generating torques from 1,270-1,200,000 In-Lb. (start/end stroke) Hydraulic pressures up to 750-1000 PSIG generating torques from 2370 - 1,500,000 In-Lb. (start/end stroke)

G Series
The G-Series actuators provide a unique, highly reliable means of operating ball, butterfly, or plug valves, as well as louvers, dampers and other 90
degree rotating mechanisms.

In developing the G-Series actuators, Bettis improved a basic concept - the Reaction Bar, by adding our new state-of-the-art Powr-Swivl(tm), replaceable bearings, highly efficient wear and corrosion resistant coating system, and tension rod compressed spring.

This enhanced design greatly improves efficiency, reduces wear and extends the actuator's life. The combining of these technologies, enhancements, and superior quality control techniques produced an assembly which became the heart of our new extended service actuators - the G-Series.

Helical Spline with submersable application

R Series Actuator
Bettis' Helical Spline product line provides a unique hydraulically-operated quarter-turn valve actuator with compact overall dimensions, reduced weight and simplicity of design.

The balanced, concentric design applies no
side/bending forces on the actuator's valve stem, promoting reliable performance.

The Helical Spline hydraulic actuators can be provided in double-acting or spring-return configurations. Output torques range to 4,000,000 lb-in. (404,000 Nm) with operating pressures to 3,000 psi (207 bar). The product is ideal for offshore oil and gas applications including subsea, splash zone and topside.

CONTROLS:
SFPa offers visual or sensor feedback (switches) and positioning equipment for all Bettis actuators. SFPa will assist you in designing your system requirements but can also take existing sensors such as proximity switches, and mount them in Bettis enclosures, which offer a variety of payload options:

Bettis QEC Controller
The Quarter Turn Electronic Controller (QEC) is a rugged optically encoded position controller suitable for on-off valve applications. It is a micro - controller based system which provides improved accuracy for position monitoring, eliminates problems associated with the mechanical adjustment of micro-switch cams and allows digital communication with multiple units over a single cable.
Features:

  • Energize or de-energize solenoid valves to open or close line valves
  • Stop valve travel at any position
  • CSA certified Class 1, Groups C & D for use in hazardous locations
  • Absolute position encoder accurate to 1°
  • -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range
  • Enables up to 32 QEC's to networked, power supply and communication cable connections are run in parallel
  • Communication software runs under Windows 3.1, 95 or 98
  • Custom programming to suit specific applications available
